Stockbridge Cardigan #2

This is my second Stockbridge Cardigan by Ysolda Teague. This time I incorporated the leaf pattern of the Aspens Cardigan by Anne Podlesak . The yarn is Ullcentrum 2ply in the color 1172 wine red on light grey - which the camera wasn´t able to capture very well. In reality the color is a darker red.

I planned for a fitted style with waist shaping and had (again) to do some serious maths. My row gauge corresponded with size 3 and my stitch gauge with size 2, likely due to the lace pattern.

The sleeves are knitted top down by picking up stitches at the armscye. I was thinking about adding the leaf pattern at the sleeves, too. But omitted this idea in the end.

Dies ist mein zweiter Stockbridge Cardigan von Ysolda Teague. Dieses Mal habe ich das Blattmuster des Aspens Cardigan von Anne Podlesak mit verwendet. Das Garn ist Ullcentrum 2ply in der Farbe 1172 weinrot auf hellgrau - welche die Kamera nicht sehr gut wiedergeben konnte. In Wirklichkeit ist die Farbe ein dunkles Rot. 

Ich plante einen passgenauen Stil mit Taillierung und hatte (wieder einmal) einige mathematischen Berechnungen vorzunehmen. Meine Maschenprobe entsprach Größe 3 in den Reihen und Größe 2 in der Maschenzahl, ich vermute aufgrund des Lace Musters.

Die Ärmel werden von oben nach unten gestrickt, indem die Maschen am Armausschnitt aufgenommen werden. Ich dachte darüber nach, das Blattmuster auch an den Ärmeln hinzuzufügen. Am Ende habe ich aber darauf verzichtet.

Iara Shawl

I made the Iara Shawl by Renée Callahan. The pattern is very well written and easy to follow. It`s  a beautiful generous sized shawl and I didn´t made any modifications. The yarn is Madelinetosh merino light which I had in stash.

Dies ist der Iara Shawl von Renée Callahan. Die englischen Instruktionen sind sehr gut beschrieben und ich habe keine Änderungen vorgenommen. Das Resultat ist ein schönes, großzügiges Schultertuch. Das Garn ist Madelinetosh merino light.

Another pair of socks for my husband. After all this green things which I made him the last months, it was time for something more colorful...

For the L size I cast on 70 sts and knit in pattern: 4 knit sts - 1 purl st. There is no need to make an extra cuff, which I like most about this pattern.
When doing a heel flap sock, I reduce with the gusset to 72 sts according to my husband´s fee size. 35 sts are for the top of the foot knitted in pattern. 37 sts are in stockinette for the bottom of the foot.

Ein weiteres Paar Socken für meinen Mann. Nach all den "grünen Sachen" die ich ihm in den letzten Monaten gestrickt habe, war es mal wieder Zeit für was Buntes... 

Für Grösse 45: 70M angeschlagen und im Rapport 4 M rechts - 1 M links stricken. Ein zusätzliches Bündchen ist nicht notwendig.
Für den Fuss reduziere ich auf 72 M und verteile 35 M für den Oberfuss im Muster und 37 M für die Sohle in glatt rechts.

Ursula Cardigan #2

It's quite a while now since I finished my first Ursula Cardigan. Since than I wanted to make another one, because I liked the first one a lot. So here it is: Ursula Cardigan #2 von Kate Davies.

Due to my yarn and gauge, this time I was right in between the second and third size, which have a 11cm / 4" difference. So I had to do some serious maths for a size in between 230 sts and 280 sts as given at start.

The colorwork is done with 3.25mm needles. The sleeves are done with 3.0mm needles and are worked from top down with short rows. There are 4 steeks involved.

Modifications:
New calculation of stitch number and pattern distribution for the whole garment.
Tubular cast on at bottom of body.
Shortened the length by one pattern repeat (one color).
Changed ratio of sleeve decreases to 7x each 9. row and 10x each 7. row
Front and neck bands: Sandwich method with an i-cord as shown in one of Kate Davies' tutorials.

Es ist bereits eine Weile her, seit ich meinen ersten Ursula Cardigan gestrickt habe. Seither habe ich immer mit einem zweiten geliebäugelt, da der erste mir so gut gefällt. Und hier ist er nun: Ursula Cardigan #2 von Kate Davies.

Aufgrund des Garns und der Maschenprobe lag ich dieses Mal zwischen der zweiten und dritten Größe, welche einen Unterschied von 11cm / 4" haben. Also brauchte es eine komplette Neuberechnung für eine Größe zwischen den angegebenen 230 Maschen oder 280 Maschen.

Das Farbmuster habe ich mit 3.25mm Nadeln gestrickt. Die Ärmel mit 3.0mm Nadeln, von oben nach unten. Es mussten 4 steeks gemacht werden. 

Änderungen:
Neue Berechnung der Maschenzahl und Mustervereilung für die gesamte Jacke.
Runder Anschlag am unteren Anfang des Vorder- und Rückenteils.
Die Gesamtlänge um einen Mustersatz (eine Farbe) gekürzt.
Die Ratio für die Ärmelabnahmen geändert: 7x jede 9. R und 10x jede 7 R.
Bündchen an Vorderteil und Halsausschnitt: Sandwich Methode mit i-cord Abschluss, wie in einem Tutorial von Kate Davies gezeigt.

2x2 Rib Hat

As my husband likes to be outdoors there is always a need for a hat. This time I made a 2x2 rib hat. Sometimes it`s the simple things that work best.

Da mein Mann gerne draußen unterwegs ist, gibt es immer einen Bedarf an Mützen. Diesmal habe ich mich für ein 2x2 Rippenmuster entschieden. Manchmal sind es die einfachen Dinge, die am besten funktionieren.

Wickerwork Pullover

Here is another make from spring: Wickerwork Pullover by Michele Wang. A beautiful design which I made in my favorite yarn.

For this pullover I had to do some prior calculations. So here are my planed modifications:
Different gauge due to DK yarn - for achieving the second size I ended up using stitch numbers of the fifth size. Total new calculation of stitch numbers of sleeves in stockinette.
Lower front neck - ca. 10 cm
Wider neck - ca. 19 cm
Shoulder shaping with short rows
Top down sleeves - circumference ca. 32 cm
Less fitted sleeves - armhole depth ca. 19 cm
When picking up neckband, taking care to pass the pattern into the 2x2 rib

Hier noch ein Projekt aus dem Frühjahr: Wickerwork Pullover von Michele Wang. Ein sehr schönes Design, für welches ich mein Lieblingsgarn verwendet habe. 

Für diesen Pullover musste ich im voraus einige Berechnungen vornehmen. Hier also meine geplanten Modifikationen:
Andere Maschenprobe aufgrund der Verwendung von DK-Garn - um die zweite Größe zu erhalten habe ich die Maschenzahlen der fünften Größe verwendet. Komplette Neuberechnung der Maschenzahlen für die Ärmel in glatt rechts.
Tieferer Halsausschnitt - ca. 10 cm
Weiterer Halsausschnitt - ca. 19 cm
Schulternform mit verkürzten Reihen gestrickt
Ärmel von oben nach unten gestrickt - Umfang ca. 32 cm
Ärmel weniger eng gestrickt als im Original - Armausschnitt ca. 19 cm 
Beim Aufnehmen der Maschen für das Bündchen am Halsausschnitt ist darauf zu achten, dass das Wickerwork Muster in das 2x2 Rippen Muster übergeht.

Holly Sweater

This is a Marie Wallin Design from her last book Wildwood. It it the Holly Sweater.

I used Jamieson & Smith 2ply jumper weight yarn and made size S. My gauge for colorwork was 30 sts and 32 rows on 3.25mm needles - so I had to do a little math for row gauge and shaping shoulders and neck. I went mostly with the given color scheme, but substituted a blue for a light brown at one band.

Modifications:
Started with a tubular cast on and knitted the body in the round.
Steeked the armholes for further knitting in the round.
Lowered the front neck i.e. started earlier with the front neck opening.
Divided front and back for shoulder shaping resp. at start of front neck and knitted back and forth in colorwork for the final parts of the sweater.


Dies ist ein Marie Walling Design namens Holly aus ihrem letzten Buch Wildwood.  

Verwendet habe ich Jamieson & Smith 2ply jumper weight Garn und die Größe ist S. Meine Maschenprobe war 30 M und 32 R mit 3.25mm Nadeln - daher gab es ein paar Berechnung für die Länge und für Schultern und Halsausschnitte. Ich habe insgesamt das gleiche Farbschema verwendet, jedoch in einem Musterband ein Blau mit einem hellen Braun ersetzt.

Modifikationen:
Beginn mit einem runden Anschlag und gestrickt in Runden.
Für die Armausschnitte steeks angeschlagen um weiter in Runden zu stricken.
Den Halsauschnitt tiefer gesetzt.
Für die Schulterformgebung bzw. ab Beginn des vorderen Halsauschnitt habe ich die Teile separiert und in Hin- und Rückreihen gearbeitet.

Sockhead Cowl #2

After the first cowl became a favorite piece, another Sockhead Cowl by Kelly McClure was desired by my husband - this time in green. I used the same yarn and color as I did for his last Sockhead Hat. Now he has a matching set.

Nachdem der erste Cowl ein Lieblingsstück geworden ist, wurde ein weiterer Sockhead Cowl von Kelly McClure von meinem Mann gewünscht - diesmal in grün. Ich habe dafür das gleiche Garn und Farbe benutzt, wie für seine letzte Sockhead Mütze. Jetzt hat er ein passendes Set.

Sochhead Slouch Hat

I made another Sockhead Slouch Hat for my husband. He wished for a kind of camouflage colored one.

Cast on 136 stitches with needles 3.0mm. 45 rounds 2x2 rib. Increasing to 144 stitches. 60 rounds in stockinette for body of hat. Decreased as described.

Eine weitere Sockhead Slouch Mütze für meinen Mann ist fertig geworden. Er wünschte sich eine in tarnfarbengrün.

136 M Anschlag mit Nd 3.0mm. 45 Runden 2x2 rib. Zunahme auf 144 M. 60 Runden glatt rechts. Abnahmen wie beschrieben.

Ilia Cardigan

This is an absolut marvelous design by Michele Wang: Ilia Cardigan. It turned out exactly as shown in the original pictures. I used the same color and yarn: Brooklyn Tweed Loft, which is a fantastic yarn.

The pattern is very well written. No modifications on my side. Started at the bottom and at the sleeves with a tubular cast on. I needed less yarn as given for size 2.

Dies ist ein abolut großartiges Design von Michele Wang: Ilia Cardigan. Die Jacke wurde genau so, wie auf den Originalfotos. Ich habe die gleiche Farbe und das gleiche Garn verwendet: Brooklyn Tweed Loft, welches ein fantastisches Garn ist.

Das Muster ist sehr gut geschrieben. Keine Modifikationen meinerseits. Begonnen habe ich jeweils mit einem Tunnelanschlag. Ich habe für die Größe 2 weniger Garn gebraucht als angegeben.
